Opal Schafpate is Opal's annual series designed to support German sheep farmers and make sure they are properly compensated for the wonderful fleece they provide us with. The program creates sponsorship packages for the individual sheep and then Opal buys the yarn and dyes it in the classic self-patterning Opal fashion.
This year's collection is named Under Trees and features lovely nature-themed colourways.
Opal is well known for its quality and durability, so this yarn is a great choice for a wide range of projects. Soft against the skin but durable, it is perfect for socks, gloves, hats, scarves and more.
One ball should be more than enough for one pair of socks, depending on the size being knitted for.
