The Yarn Cake’s beginner classes, both knitting and crochet, will take you from the very basics right through to the main techniques, by exploring a different, simple project each week. By the end of the four week block, you’ll have all the skills necessary to tackle your own projects, as well as four completed items. All course materials are provided, and we offer a 10% discount for any purchases made while attending a class. We’ll also have tea and cake for you during the class. Maximum class size is 8.
Our advanced classes will give you a good foundation on the subject, generally covering basic techniques, a selection of patterns, tips and tricks and help with fixing mistakes as they occur. Advanced classes have a maximum class size of 6 and the course fee includes all handouts and patters, tea and cake and a 10% discount on any purchases made on the night.
All our classes run on Wednesday evenings, from 6.30 to 9pm. The teaching space is fully accessible and we can accommodate most food intolerances with a bit of notice!
Our tutor, Maria Bierbaum-Williams, has been an avid knitter and crocheter for over a decade – and has been teaching both for many years. She comes from a teaching background and takes great pride in developing tailor made courses for every class. She also designs patterns and has twice placed in the Glasgow School of Yarn design competition.
